Mission Statement

The mission of the Montclair Kimberley Academy Libraries is to promote authentic inquiry and encourage independent learners to become competent, critical and ethical users of information. Librarians at each campus teach fundamental multi-literacy information skills within library spaces and curricula that encourage constructive, global thinking. Information literacy is the process by which students learn to access, synthesize and evaluate new information. Students are guided through six steps: Task Definition, Information Seeking Strategies, Location and Access, Use of Information, Synthesis and Evaluation. Each campus library is dedicated to the mission of providing a motivating and stimulating environment that encourages the love of reading and lifelong learning.
